Using two independent tissue-specific Cre drivers (K14cre and Wcre) it was previously shown that combined loss of E-cadherin (encoded by Cdh1) and p53 (encoded by Trp53) in mouse mammary epithelium results in the formation of tumors that resemble human invasive lobular carcinoma (ILC) [10, 11]. The gene discussed is TP53; the disease is invasive lobular breast carcinoma.
