Although cytokine-activated nuclear IKKα has been suggested to suppress maspin transcription in prostate cancer cells [34], Overexpression of IKKα wild-type but not its T23A mutant significantly decreased maspin mRNA stability in the presence of actinomycin D (Figure 3A), indicating that a post-transcriptional regulation might be involved in nuclear IKKα-mediated maspin suppression.
