Strinking effects were noted by time-lapse live-cell imaging microscopy of human cancer HeLa cells expressing HA-Bcl-xL(S49A), (S62A) and dual (S49/62A) phosphorylation mutants with an increased number of cells harbouring multiple mitotic defects, including multipolar spindle, chromosome lagging and bridging, micro-, bi- or multi-nucleated cells, and cells that fail to complete mitosis [12]. The gene discussed is BCL2L1; the disease is cancer.
