In high-grade serous ovarian tumors, where CTGF promotes migration and peritoneal adhesion of cancer cells, high amount of CTGF protein was detected in cancer-related stroma compared with matched cancer epithelial cells, whereas in breast cancer, high expression of CTGF in tumor cells but not in stromal cells had significant clinical relevance (Moran-Jones et al. 2015; Zhu et al. 2015). This evidence concerns the gene CCN2 and breast carcinoma.
