An elevated expression of CTGF has been correlated with more advanced disease and worse survival outcomes in breast, gastric, esophageal and thyroid cancers as well as in gliomas, whereas significantly lowered level of CTGF protein has been detected in advanced, poorly differentiated colorectal tumors, in nasopharyngeal carcinoma and in NSCLCs and was associated with poor prognosis (Chang et al. 2004; Lin et al. 2005; Chen et al. 2007a; Liu et al. 2008; Zhou et al. 2009; Cui et al. 2011; Edwards et al. 2011; Zhen et al. 2013; Zhu et al. 2015).
