AKT1 and renal cell carcinoma: The phosphoinositide 3-kinase (PI3K)/Akt/mTORC1 signaling pathway is an important regulator of cell growth, cell cycling, cell proliferation, metabolism, apoptosis, autophagy, and angiogenesis [5, 6], and is frequently activated in a wide variety of cancers, including RCC [5, 7].
