In vivo targeting of human PAR-1 with the use of siRNA-encapsulated liposomes showed a decrease in melanoma growth and experimental metastasis, as well as a decrease in the expression of several angiogenic and metastatic genes, including vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), interleukin 8 (IL-8), and matrix-metalloprotease 2 (MMP-2; Villares et al., 2008). The gene discussed is F2R; the disease is melanoma.
