Now with our understanding that MET enhances Nrf2 in aging model and given a strong proangiogenic role for Nrf2 through activating HIF-1α/VEGF pathway in cancer pathobiology (Kim et al., 2011; Zhang et al., 2013), it would be interesting to investigate if and how MET can integrate Nrf2 with angiogenesis during aging to improve cardiac fitness.
