A previous study demonstrated that insulinemia and glycaemia, as well as impaired insulin response of glucose oxidation, are independent predictors of high circulating TPO levels (Maury et al., 2010) and that glycaemia, insulinemia, and insulin resistance are contributing factors to TPO levels because hyperglycaemia is positively related to enhanced platelet activation in patients with acute coronary syndrome. This evidence concerns the gene TPO and acute coronary syndrome.
