Several genes encoding VGCC subunits, including CACNA1C, CACNB2 and CACNA1I have repeatedly been associated with schizophrenia and other psychiatric disorders (Ferreira et al., 2008; Cross-Disorder Group of the Psychiatric Genomics, 2013; Hamshere et al., 2013; Ripke et al., 2013; Schizophrenia Working Group of the Psychiatric Genomics, 2014). This evidence concerns the gene CACNA1I and schizophrenia.
