Elevated CGRP levels have been detected in the serum of migraineurs [4,5] and at higher levels in individuals with chronic migraine than in episodic migraineurs [6]; CGRP is capable of precipitating migraine in prone individuals [7]; and sumatriptan, a pharmaceutical intervention used to abort migraine, has been shown to decrease CGRP levels concomitant with symptom relief [8]. Here, CALCA is linked to migraine disorder.
