The situation in MM, where higher levels of AQP1 are related to better prognosis is unlike that in other tumours, where increased levels of AQP1 are associated with poorer prognosis, including breast cancer, melanoma, urothelial carcinoma and pharyngeal squamous cell carcinomas [18,19,20,21,22]. This evidence concerns the gene AQP1 and Miyoshi myopathy.
