Vesicular stomatitis virus (VSV), a virus in the family Rhabdoviridae, induces the phosphorylation of eIF2α and promotes the assembly of SG-like particles that contain TIA-1, TIAR, PCBP2, viral replication proteins and RNA, but not the eukaryotic initiation factor 3 (eIF3), nor eIF4A [195], suggesting that the SG-like structures may play a role in the VSV infection cycle. The gene discussed is TIA1; the disease is infection.
