Noteworthy, we observed that the frequency of RTEL1 amplification is almost equal in all stages of cancer (I-41 %, II-30 %, III-44 % and IV-44 %), corroborating with the hypothesis proposed by Tabach et al. [33] that amplification of the 20q chromosomal arm occurs early in tumorigenic transformation and may initiate cancer. The gene discussed is RTEL1; the disease is cancer.
