IF and western blot results support this hypothesis as epithelial marker E-cadherin was upregulated and mesenchymal marker Vimentin was inhibited by PCDH17. PCDH20 was also able to suppress EMT by enhancing E-cadherin in nasopharyngeal carcinoma [27], which suggests that the protocadherin family plays a regulatory role in the EMT process. This evidence concerns the gene CDH1 and nasopharyngeal carcinoma.
