The mean age of wildtype astrocytic tumors (astrocytomas WHO grade II, anaplastic astrocytomas WHO grade III, glioblastomas and gliosarcoma WHO grade IV) was 58.2 years (95 % confidence interval: 56.8-59.5) while the mean age in BRAF V600E mutated cases was 15.3 years (95 % CI: 3.6-27.1) and thus significantly younger (student t-test, p < 0.0001). This evidence concerns the gene BRAF and astrocytic tumor.
