NOS2 and cutaneous leishmaniasis: The present study showed that in the hamster model of cutaneous leishmaniasis of L. braziliensis there was a greater expression of iNOS in skin (around a thousand times compared with uninfected controls), different from that observed in earlier studies, in which expression in spleens of hamsters infected with L. donovani was low, similar to uninfected control [22, 26, 36].
