In multivariable analysis, after adjusting for potential confounding factors (listed in Table 2, age, sex, race, asset index, CRP and nutrition biomarkers), SAC characteristics associated with anemia in each country were: in Mexico, low ferritin (OR: 1.5; 95% CI: 1.1, 2.0) and overweight (OR 0.4; 95% CI: 0.2, 0.8); and in Colombia, black race/ethnicity (OR: 1.6; 95% CI: 1.2, 2.3), poorest SES quintile (OR: 1.8; 95% CI: 1.3, 2.5), low ferritin (OR: 2.7; 95% CI: 1.96, 3.8) and stunting (OR: 1.6; 95% CI: 1.1, 2.3).
