CCL5 and Hepatic fibrosis: Increasing evidence implicates CCR2/CCR5 and their ligands (including C-C chemokine ligand type 2 [CCL2, aka monocyte chemotactic protein-1 (MCP-1)] and type 5 [CCL5, aka Regulated on Activation, Normal T-cell Expressed and Secreted (RANTES)]), in the pathogenesis of liver fibrosis through promotion of monocyte/macrophage recruitment and tissue infiltration, and HSC activation following liver injury [9–15].
