Moreover, overexpression of DJ-1 mutants (M26I and L166P) did not rescue lipid rafts-dependent endocytosis (Fig. 5G), which correlates well with the data shown in Figs 2B and 4C. These data suggest that the decrease in lipid rafts-dependent endocytosis caused by DJ-1 deficiency was mediated by alterations in flot-1 and cav-1, and lipid rafts-dependent endocytosis may be reduced in familial PD patients with mutations in DJ-1.
