We also observed phosphorylated p62 in non-tumour regions of one case each of alcoholic HCC (No. 16), non-alcoholic HCC (No. 15) and combined hepatocellular and cholangiocarcinoma (No. 14), although levels were much lower than those in HCV-positive HCC (Fig. 8a). This evidence concerns the gene SQSTM1 and hepatocellular carcinoma.
