ZEB1 and colorectal carcinoma: In an in vivo model of colorectal carcinoma, it has been demonstrated that nuclear β-catenin and subsequent activation of TCF, a transcription factor commonly associated with nuclear β-catenin, increases the expression of the important EMT transcription factor zinc finger E-box binding homeobox 1 protein (ZEB1) [17], of which the expression has the most consistent inverse correlation with E-cadherin expression across different types of carcinomas [18].
