Unlike other head and neck squamous cell carcinoma in which anti-epidermal growth factor receptor (anti-EGFR) antibody cetuximab can be effectively combined with radiation therapy as curative treatment with similar efficacy as chemotherapy for non-metastatic diseases, there has been no conclusive evidence of targeted therapy combined with radiation therapy which showed comparable efficacy as chemotherapy in the same setting [11–14]. Here, EGFR is linked to metastatic neoplasm.
