The miR-99 family (miR-99a, miR-99b, and miR-100) has been reported to be upregulated following DNA damage, and their expression has been correlated with radiation sensitivity, in breast and PCa cell lines, by their ability to downregulate the chromatin remodeler SWI/SNF-related, matrix-associated, actin-dependent regulator of chromatin (SMARC) A5 (SNF2H) [21]. The gene discussed is SMARCA5; the disease is posterior cortical atrophy.
