AIP and Hyperglycemia: After 6 months of cola drinking (C), rats showed large drinking volumes (mL/kg/24 hs) (150 ± 28 in C versus 87 ± 12 in W, p < 0.001) and developed overweight (+8%, p < 0.05), hyperglycemia (+11%, p < 0.05), hypertriglyceridemia (2-fold, p < 0.001), higher AIP (2-fold, p < 0.01), and lower Q10 levels (−55%, p < 0.05) compared with their water drinking counterparts (W) (Figure 1).
