The serum levels of IL-6 were significantly higher in HCC, LC, and HCV groups (13.99 ± 1.80, 7.49 ± 0.43, and 5.78 ± 0.74) than NC group (2.57 ± 0.31) (P = 0.001), and there is a consistent increase in the IL-6 level with the disease progression from NC to HCC. This evidence concerns the gene IL6 and laryngotracheoesophageal cleft.
