Thepurpose of this study was to identify the age-related changes in peripheralbrain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) and its relationship to oxidative damage andconventional cardiovascular disease (CVD) biomarkers, such as atherogenic index,C-reactive protein (hsCRP) and oxidized LDL (oxLDL), in active and inactive men.Seventeen elderly males (61-80 years) and 17 young males (20-24 years) participatedin this study. This evidence concerns the gene BDNF and cardiovascular disorder.
