In a previous study by Tay et al., 86 % of patients remained responsive to subsequent LHRH agonists after earlier bicalutamide plus a 5α-reductase inhibitor treatment, indicating that this treatment as primary hormonal therapy for advanced PCa probably may not compromise the overall duration of the androgen-responsive disease (Tay et al. 2004). The gene discussed is GNRH1; the disease is posterior cortical atrophy.
