In A375 human melanoma cells exposed to kojic acid (a tyrosinase inhibitor and skin whitener), seven likely tumor-suppressor genes— GALNT1, APOBEC1, ARHGEF16, CD22, FGFR3, UNC5C and ZNF146— were shown to be down-regulated, resulting in the loss of suppressor gene function [26]. This evidence concerns the gene GALNT1 and melanoma.
