In response to cigarette smoke, degradation of E-cadherin (E-cad) in lung cancer cells resulted from shedding of a 400 kDa Muc1-N isoform, leading to Muc1-C glycosylation and complex formation with p120ctn through bridging of Src/Muc1-C/galectin-3/EGFR signalosomes. Here, CDH1 is linked to lung cancer.
