INS and Insulin resistance: In patients in D group we observed a significantly higher level of FPG (7.24 vs 5.34 mmol/L, P < 0.01) and HbA1c (7.23 vs 5.4 %, P < 0.01) in comparison to the control group, as well as significantly higher levels of insulin resistance—HOMA-IR: 4.46 vs 1.89 and fasting insulin concentrations: 14.24 vs 7.79 mU/L, respectively (P < 0.01).
