In a genome-wide association study (GWAS), a single-nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) rs4236601 at the CAV1/CAV2 locus on chromosome 7q31 was identified to be significantly associated with POAG in the Icelandic population and the association was replicated in European decedents and southern Chinese7. The gene discussed is CAV2; the disease is open-angle glaucoma.
