We found the Na+-glucose symporters SLC5A1 (SGLT1) and SLC5A2 (SGLT2) to be expressed in NSCLC at a similar level as in the normal lung, where SGLT-mediated transport of glucose across the alveolar epithelial layer plays an important role in glucose re-uptake [19]. This evidence concerns the gene SLC5A1 and non-small cell lung carcinoma.
