Hypertension is a class effect of anti-VEGF therapy.4, 5, 6, 7 Results of some studies have shown that treatment-induced hypertension was associated with improved outcomes in patients treated with axitinib,8, 9, 10, 11 bevacizumab,12 sorafenib,13 and sunitinib.12, 14, 15 However, results of another study showed a weak correlation between axitinib steady-state exposure and change in diastolic blood pressure from baseline.16 This evidence concerns the gene VEGFA and hypertensive disorder.
