Immunohistochemical staining of a relatively small group of gliomas did not reveal any detectable difference in MYC expression in carriers and non-carriers of the risk allele; however, comparative LC/MS-MS analyses, when performed separately in oligodendroglioma and astrocytoma tumor samples independently, consistently indicated that the MYC-network was the most differentially regulated transcriptional network in risk-allele carriers with high significance. The gene discussed is MYC; the disease is central nervous system cancer.
