DBH and infection: The difference in colonization of Dbh+/− versus Dbh−/− mice by any given strain was largely lost in the infections by the qseC, qseE, and qseEC mutants (Fig. 6), suggesting that differences in colonization upon infection of Dbh+/− versus Dbh−/− mice depend on both QseC and QseE, and indicating that both of these sensors are required to distinguish an intestine with epinephrine and norepinephrine from one without and to better colonize the former.
