The involvement of iPLA2-VI in oxidative stress [2], the identification of PLA2G6 mutations in patients with parkinsonian features [3], and the presence of α-synuclein Lewy body pathology in five dystonia-parkinsonism cases with PLA2G6 genetic abnormalities [4] suggest a possible role for this gene in PD pathogenesis. This evidence concerns the gene PLA2G6 and Parkinson disease.
