Chemokine ligand 2 (CCL2), also known as monocyte chemoattractant protein 1 (MCP-1), is a cytokine recruiting monocytes, memory T cells and NK cells to sites of active inflammation and has been implicated in the pathogenesis of other inflammatory diseases such as atherosclerosis, RA and multiple sclerosis [26]. The gene discussed is CCL2; the disease is multiple sclerosis.
