CD44 and ovarian carcinoma: Previous attempts to detect CD44s and CD44 splice variants (V5, V6 and V7-8) in the serum of ovarian cancer patients did not reveal a significant prognostic effect of these molecules as a predictor of tumor burden or recurrence [33]; however, cleaved and soluble V8-10 isoforms have not been investigated in the serum or ascites of ovarian cancer patients.
