Recent study by Takeda et al. (2009) had shown CCL-11 and CCL-24 expression elevated in the mice treated with laser and further neutralization of both CCL-11 and CCL-24 with antibody significantly reducing the area of choroidal neovascularization (CNV) in the mouse retina, indicating its causal role in pathogenesis of AMD. This evidence concerns the gene CCL11 and age-related macular degeneration.
