Finally, our findings evidenced that the level of TRPML-2 mRNA and proteins was high in neural stem/progenitor cells; since, the glioblastoma stem-like cells, suspected to support the gliomagenesis, derive from neural stem and/or progenitor cells or differentiated cells such as astrocytes or oligodendrocytes [42], the peculiar expression of TRPML-2 channels in neural stem/progenitor cells and astrocytes may be particularly interesting to stimulate additional studies on the expression and functions of these channels in glioma stem-like cells.
