In this study, we showed that the CD133+ glioblastoma cells formed intracranial tumors in rats that were not immunocompromised, thus suggesting the involvement of local immunoresistance mechanisms or tumor-specific immunity avoidance through different mechanisms involving both the intrinsic properties of the glioma cells and microenvironmental factors [32, 33]. The gene discussed is PROM1; the disease is central nervous system cancer.
