Standard gene-targeting methods developed in mice have been applied to pigs and led to the development of a familial adenomatous polyposis (FAP) model in which gene-targeting was used to introduce premature termination codons (PTCs) in APC by electroporation of linearized vector DNA into mesenchymal stem cells and subsequent SCNT to produce animals (Flisikowska et al., 2012). The gene discussed is APC; the disease is Familial adenomatous polyposis.
