The activation of mir-34a in pancreatic cancer stem cells by 5-azacytidine (demethylating agent) or SAHA (histone deacetylase inhibitor) resulted inhibition of cell proliferation, cell cycle progression, self-renewal, EMT and invasion with concomitant down-regulation of cyclin D1, CDK4, SIRT1, survivin, Bcl-2, VEGF, and CDK6 and upregulation of p27Kip1, P21Cip1 and PUMA [59]. Here, CDK4 is linked to pancreatic neoplasm.
