ICAM1 and Miyoshi myopathy: It is the ligand for leukocyte function-associated antigen 1; the interaction of ICAM-1 with its ligand on the surface of MM cells leads to MM cell proliferation in mouse models6 and it is involved in drug resistance of myeloma cells.7 Antibodies against ICAM-1 have shown anti-myeloma activities in vitro and in vivo,6 while a phase 1 study with an anti-ICAM-1 monoclonal antibody has shown encouraging results in patients with relapsed/refractory MM.8
