Among the various lupus models of SLE, the congenic mouse containing the Sle1 locus, one of three extensive loci identified using the New Zealand-derived recombinant strain NZM2410, is characterized by the presence of several B cell and Dendritic Cell (DC) phenotypes on the C57BL/6 background [23]. The gene discussed is TLR5; the disease is systemic lupus erythematosus.
