AFP was significantly higher in HCC (mean 2913.0 ng/ml, SD 1424.7 ng/ml; median 15.3 IU/ml, IQR 4.0–12.6) than cirrhosis (mean 6.48 ng/ml, SD 1.32 ng/ml; median 3 IU/ml, IQR 1–2.6) and CLD (mean 2.54 ng/ml, SD 0.10; median 2.0 IU/ml; IQR 2.0–3.0). This evidence concerns the gene AFP and hepatocellular carcinoma.
