Genome-wide association studies (GWAS) have successfully led to the identification of common single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) that increase the risk of PTSD development in an individual.7 The first GWAS for PTSD8 reported an association between a SNP in retinoid-related orphan receptor alpha (RORA) and PTSD. The gene discussed is RORA; the disease is post-traumatic stress disorder.
