Consistent with this finding, experimental pulmonary hypertension showed an upregulation of ANO1 on mRNA and protein levels in the pulmonary arteries of monocrotaline (MCT)-induced pulmonary hypertension rats, and 5-HT-induced contraction of pulmonary arteries significantly was reduced by pharmacological inhibition of ANO1 [9]. This evidence concerns the gene ANO1 and pulmonary arterial hypertension.
