Blockade of CXCR1/CXCR2 was associated with inhibition of insulitis and modification of leukocytes distribution in blood, spleen, bone marrow, and lymph nodes, and was effective in preventing diabetes in an inflammation-mediated model based on multiple low dose injections of streptozotocin and in preventing diabetes in NOD mice (58). This evidence concerns the gene CXCR1 and diabetes mellitus.
