Interestingly, despite two studies describing elevated IGF2 in human steatosis and steatohepatitis (Chiappini et al., 2006) and elevated Igf2 in murine steatosis (Tybl et al., 2011) and one study showing serum IGF2 inversely correlating with NAFLD-related fibrosis, functional implications of IGF2 in steatosis development are completely unknown. The gene discussed is IGF2; the disease is metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease.
