The strength is represented by the fact that this is a pilot study that presents for the first time evidence about the role of genetic variants with regard to obesity risk in a Romanian children population and the weaknesses of our study consist of investigation of only 2 SNPs of the FTO gene and the moderate power in investigating the association with obesity as not all FTO polymorphisms were investigated, there were only 387 cases and it was a single-center study. Here, FTO is linked to obesity due to melanocortin 4 receptor deficiency.
