In their research, Lombard et al found the minor allele of rs17817449 FTO gene to be associated with higher BMI values.7 In their study, Do et al found significant associations of rs17817449 with BMI, weight, and waist circumference, demonstrating its involvement in the etiology of obesity, insulin resistance, and increased plasma leptin levels.34 In disagreement with these studies, no significant associations between the FTO polymorphism and body weight, BMI, waist circumference, and plasma leptin levels were found in the present research. This evidence concerns the gene FTO and obesity disorder.
